EMERGING BLOOMS FOR ADDRESSING TRAUMA

As my face flushes red from the fierce arctic winds, my feet stumble upon a patch of the most beautiful, delicate tiny wildflower bells swaying among the stones. My herbal research brings me to Iceland often, where I work closely with Mossy Mountain Heather and a variety of other wildflowers, studying and harvesting them for their potent medicinal properties.

Across this unusual and strikingly beautiful terrain are magnificent, dense flowering mats (mini carpets) that gracefully adorn early spring snow beds, low-growing hollows and moist mountain slopes. Most intriguing is how each delicate bloom resiliently emerges through the adversity of early spring’s frigid temperatures, lingering snow and shifting ice, offering a quiet testament to life’s enduring power.

Clinically, I often use this medicinal flower along with many others to help people move through adversity and to support healing of physical wounds and the emotional scars left by injury, illness, abuse, trauma, and eating disorders. Therapeutically, this grounding flower soothes the nervous system, stabilizes Shen (spirit and mind), and helps reestablish a healthy, reverent connection with the body for sustained physical and emotional nourishment.

This life-granting and precious flower is thoughtfully included in our Trauma Mend floral elixir to help support resolving and gently releasing stored trauma, encouraging a sense of inner peace and natural healing.
